Near Marina di Ravenna (Italy) there is a place where old cargo ships falls in a deep sleep. They used to carry to gravel in Italy coming from the other side of the Adriatic Sea.
This is the first time for me to visit an abandoned ship, but these ships would better be dismantled to them to avoid maritime pollution.
The ship is in good conditions both inside and outside. Inside there still are sailors’ clothes, daily utensils, food boxes. From the newspapers seen on board it seems that the ship has been in service until 2007
In this exploration I was accompanied by Ai confini dell’abbandono
A really interesting part of the exploration was the machine room.
We went upstairs to the accommodation floor, almost all the same rooms, except for the captain… it is the biggest of all
In all the rooms there are, of course, posters of naked women… the sea life is tough.
Obviously the Master in addition to posters and wine bottles also had his chair on the bridge.
The last part of the exploration was the ship’s hold, A very claustrophobic environment.
